Narconon® Drug Education UK's Expansion

The demand for effective drug education continues to grow and in the opening term of the last school year Narconon Drug Education lecturers reached 5,191 school children with their presentations. There are now nine Narconon lecturers covering the UK and this number is scheduled to rise to 20 before the end of the current school year. In the period between September and December, lectures were delivered in Shropshire, Glasgow, Bolton, York, Harrogate, Plymouth, London, Birmingham, Surrey, Berkshire, Sussex, Bedfordshire, Hampshire and Wiltshire.

There is no question that effective drug education programmes do bite into the problem and make genuine inroads. Sweden, which has the lowest instance of drug abuse or drug experimentation in Europe amongst its youth, cite preventative drug education as a key factor in their success and the Swedish government have accordingly put millions of krona into this activity. Around 9% of 14-15 year olds in their country experiment with drugs, whereas in the UK it’s just under 40%!!

In the near future Narconon Drug Education will be delivering some regional seminars for teachers, enabling them to deliver an extended version of one of the drug education modules, which would stretch over several weekly PHSE periods. Additionally, there will be posters produced for primary schools, with cartoons illustrating basic preventative aspects of our format. The whole team at Narconon Drug Education is looking forward to next twelve months being a sea change year in the prevailing attitudes of many youth towards drugs.
